Why this certificate?

The proliferation of wireless devices and expansion in their capabilities, along with the national decline of undergraduate wireless communications classes, have resulted in increased demand from industry for wireless engineering students in recent years. The Wireless Engineering Graduate Certificate, offered through the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will enable currently employed professionals to advance their careers in the field of wireless engineering and will enhance the qualifications of those seeking to enter this new and growing field. These courses will allow professionals to understand the complexities of wireless devices and their associated communication techniques more quickly than the timeframe required with a full graduate degree.

Who is eligible?

You have a bachelor’s degree in any area of engineering, or a closely related field. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a non-engineering field may be considered if they have relevant professional experience in wireless engineering. There is no GRE requirement.

What can you expect?

  • Students will study the fundamental principles of wireless engineering as they relate to electromagnetics and communications and will gain knowledge of the complexities of wireless devices and their associated communication techniques. They will be able to demonstrate they have received graduate-level training, are up to date with advances in wireless engineering, and are capable of applying this knowledge in the workplace.
  • If a student chooses to pursue a master’s degree, all academic credit earned from the certificate can be applied toward the graduate degree.
